In all MECA projects, participants are represented equally by Israelis and Palestinians, males and females. The importance placed on equal participation, equal decision-making, and equal governing assures that the sensitivities and perspectives of both sides are recognized and taken into account. |
MECA works to create groups of participants that are pluralistic, culturally, religiously, and geographically. Participants come from a variety of schools, including Palestinian government schools and Israeli religious schools and from a variety of political backgrounds. Teachers and students live in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Hebron, ,Nablus, Jenin, Bethlehem, and many different villages, refugee camps, development towns, kibbutzim and moshavim throughout the Palestinian Authority and Israel.
|
Present at every bi-national program are bilingual Hebrew-Arabic translators, as MECA believes that it is important for each participant to have the greatest opportunity to express him/herself. All written materials are available in both Arabic and Hebrew. |
